We know our community of Clean Riders cares deeply about the beaches of Costa Rica and has the desire to take action in restoring the integrity of our beaches and ensuring they are clean, healthy, and free from trash.
We hope our activated community moves beyond action and into agency, cleaning up trash every time they are at the beach, and inspiring visitors to do the same.
We’ve designed waste management stations that allow you to easily sort the trash you clean up.
Through research and development, and the guidance of the National Parks, we’ve designed bins that don’t pose a risk to animals, and that prevent them from accessing the trash.
Daily maintenance by our team and regular collection by the municipality will ensure these bins stay clean without overflowing, and that the waste gets disposed of properly.
Cala Luna provided the initial funding and the space to put our first Beach Clean Up Station in Tamarindo.
The Municipality of Santa Cruz is helping us with waste pick up at our Stations
The National Parks have partnered with us in designing these bins to ensure they don’t pose a risk to wildlife
Clean Up Stations empower our community to pick up existing trash any time they visit the beach, ensuring trash is constantly and consistently cleaned up by the whole community. It enables everyone to take action and tackle a problem in real time.
By offering an accessible, visible, and easy to use place for trash to be disposed, people are less likely to carelessly leave their trash on the beach. Clean Up Stations encourage neighbours and visitors alike to take responsibility for the waste they produce while visiting the beach.
Clean Up Stations offer easy to understand waste separation systems that allow our team to effectively remove waste from an ineffective system and maximize the amount of waste that is recycled and composted.
We believe Tamarindo can be a Zero Waste Community. We focus on building an energized and connected community that comes together to make meaningful impacts.
We invite you to be part of the community and join us. See more about our Community Compost and Beach Clean Up. Together we can create clean healthy environments.
