Acoustic tagging provides detailed insights into the movements and behaviors of manta rays, contributing to scientific knowledge and conservation efforts. During the dive at the Catalinas Islands, our primary goal is to spot and tag giant manta rays (Mobula birostris) using this tool. This activity not only allows participants to witness the majesty of these creatures in their natural habitat but also plays a crucial role in collecting valuable scientific data for the organization.

Mantas Costa Rica

Mantas Costa Rica, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of manta rays in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, employs a comprehensive conservation approach with advanced technologies. They use acoustic technology for precise monitoring of migratory patterns, satellite technology for a global view of ray locations, and photo identification methods for individual recognition. Genetic studies through tissue sampling provide crucial insights into genetic diversity. This multifaceted approach, supported by advanced technologies, drives educational and policy initiatives to preserve not only mantas but also the marine ecosystems they inhabit for future generations.
